1 The Ferrari 812 Superfast

The Ferrari 812 Superfast (Type F152M) is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel drive grand tourer produced by Italian sports car maker Ferrari that made its debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The 812 Superfast is the successor to the F12berlinetta.

2 Technical specifications

1 engine

The 812 Superfast is powered by a 6,496cc (6.5-liter) F140 GA V12, an expanded version of the 6.3-liter engine used in the F12berlinetta. It generates 800 PS (588 kW; 789 hp) of power at 8,500 rpm and 718 N⋅m (530 lb⋅ft) of torque at 7,000 rpm. According to Ferrari in 2018, the 812 Superfast's engine was, at the time, the most powerful naturally aspirated production car engine ever made. It does not have turbocharging or hybrid technology.

2 Transmission

The 812 Superfast's transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic made for Ferrari by Getrag, based on the gearbox used in the 458.

3 Wheels

The 812 Superfast has 20-inch wheels at the front and rear. The tires are Pirelli P Zero with codes of 275/35 ZR 20 for the front tires and 315/35 ZR 20 for the rear tires. The brakes are Brembo Extreme Design carbon-ceramic disc brakes, which Ferrari claims have a 5.8 percent improvement in braking performance from 100 km/h to 0 km/h over the F12berlinetta. The brakes are borrowed from the LaFerrari, with a diameter of 398 mm (15.7 in) at the front and 360 mm (14.2 in) at the rear.

4 Aerodynamics

The car includes a mix of active and passive aerodynamics to improve drag coefficient values compared to the F12berlinetta. The front of the car is designed to increase downforce and includes air intakes for front brake cooling, as well as ducts to increase airflow under the car. The car's hood also features air bypasses to direct air to the side of the car to increase downforce and aerodynamic efficiency. The rear diffuser of the 812 Superfast features active flaps that can open at high speeds to reduce drag.

5 Performance

Ferrari claims the 812 Superfast has a top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph) with 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 2.9 seconds. The car has a power-to-weight ratio of 4.81 pounds (2.18 kg) per horsepower (HP). The 812 Superfast is the first Ferrari equipped with EPS (Electronic Power Steering). It also shares the Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 rear-wheel steering system borrowed from the limited edition F12 TDF. The car's weight distribution is 47% front and 53% rear. The car recorded a time of 1:21.50 on the Fiorano circuit, 0.50 seconds slower than the more successful F12tdf.

3 Design

The design is based on the F12berlinetta, with new styling elements such as LED headlights, hood vents, quadruple circular taillights, and a body-colored rear diffuser. The car's twin-box design with a raised rear end is said to resemble that of the 365 GTB/4 Daytona, a Pininfarina design, although the car was designed by the Ferrari Styling Center.

The interior of the 812 Superfast is inspired by both the previous F12berlinetta and the LaFerrari interior, including the shape and position of the air vents and the contours of the dashboard.

As part of Ferrari's flagship design, the 812 Superfast's center console continues to lack the central infotainment screen found on entry-level models such as the GTC4Lusso and Portofino, retaining only a small temperature display for the climate control system and dividing all vehicle status information between the driver's multifunction instrument cluster and the passenger-side touchscreen above the glove box.

As with some previous models, the 812 Superfast can be ordered with a specially designed, model-named multi-piece luggage set that fits efficiently into the vehicle's rear trunk.
